Sørlige Nordsjø II
Statkraft has teamed up with Mainstream Renewable Power (Aker) and bp to consider a bid for the development rights to an offshore wind facility at Sørlige Nordsjø II, located in the south of the Norwegian North Sea.
Sørlige Nordsjø II (SN II) was opened for offshore wind power in 2020. The Norwegian government decided that the first phase of SN II will be tendered at the end of the first quarter of 2024, and that licences will be awarded towards the summer or autumn of the same year.
In view of the need for increased power production in Norway, the government has decided that the first phase of SN II will be connected radially to Norway. The maximum developed capacity for the first phase of SN II is 1500 MW.
Statkraft, Mainstream Renewable Power and bp have joined forces to develop SN II and to develop an offshore wind industry in Norway.
SN II is a bottom-fixed offshore wind project. With efficient and innovative solutions, Statkraft and its partners can supply Norway with more renewable energy and lay the foundation for a Norwegian supplier industry, including opportunities for export to other markets.
With strong technical expertise and extensive experience in both offshore energy projects and the power market, the consortium covers the entire value chain, from development to delivery of renewable energy to the market. One of the prerequisites for success is to always put sustainability first.
